I Heart Kuwait!!!

Hope everyone has a great national day! Stay careful!:D

Monday, 16 February 2009

Monday was 1234567890 DAY!

"In case you missed it, Friday was 1234567890 Day! What is that you ask? Well, ever since January 1, 1970, computers began counting up from zero in what is universally known as Unix time, and on Friday, we reached a once in a lifetime number: 1,234,567,890! Never missing a chance to party, Sugar HQ hosted their own shindig to celebrate the milestone, but there was no doubt we weren't the only ones — it was like New Years for computers!"

What I've Been Up To Chpt 2..

1) Listening to more music that's healthy for any person

2) STUDYING!!! Four Exams over with...Two Left:)

3) Literally researching the spring collection dresses for Kuwaits amazing wedding season;p

4) Sneaking in a couple of episodes of Samantha Who, Grey's Anatomy, and Gossip Girl

5) I just watched the inauguration:

a- Michelle wore mint green...and I loved it

b- Sasha and Malia were the best dressed there

c- Aretha Franklin's hat was FAB-U-LOUS

d- I love the fact that i can say "I watched the inauguration of the first African-American President"in 50 years and know that it plays a big part in history..

e- My favorite parts of the speech (written by Jon Favreau) were:
"In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted — for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things — some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom."

"For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace."
"To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West — know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist."
full speech found at : http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090120/ap_on_go_pr_wh/inauguration_obama_text

This Is How We Do

Stella McCartney and Kate Moss pose with oomph at another Christmas event. Imagine the pressure to look good, in every way, if you.ARE. Stella Mccartney. Scary shiz people. Naturally her pops was there, added a bit of pazzaz to the party. All I want to tell him is "Thank you, not only do I now know what I should be listening to, but I also know what I should be wearing".

Chanel Through The Eyes Of Zaha Hadid!

"...you have to admit that Coco Chanel was onto something when, in 1955, she designed the quilted, chain-strapped handbag known as the 2.55. It has retained its “It” position ever since, beloved by women from Brooke Astor to the cast of The Hills.

In 2005, in honor of 50 years of status baggery, Lagerfeld asked twenty artists (Sylvie Fleury and Yoko Ono among them) to create their own reactions to the 2.55. This year, he asked the architect Zaha Hadid (winner of the Pritzker Prize and, Lagerfeld says, “a Coco Chanel of today”) to design a movable home for those artists’ works. The result is “Mobile Art,” a 7,500-square-foot space pod that has traveled around the world and has just landed in Central Park, plunked down in the middle of Rumsey Playfield. So far, it’s been to Hong Kong and Tokyo. When it’s done here, it will move on to London, then Moscow and Paris."

She also designed some fantastic looking rubber shoes for Lacoste...Zaha's on a roll!!!

ELLE Honoring The Women

These are just some of the women who were at the event. We shall begin with Halle Berry and her fabulous Babydaddy, can I just mention that they are wayyy too beautiful a couple..oh and by the way "they're working on kids"...SERIOUSLY!:P Kate Beckinsale looks all kinds of Helen of Troy with her white god-essy dress, its not to hard to pull of god-essy when your that tall too (but we shall give her credit, because we're kind). Eva Mendes's skin color is the shiz...I just want to ask her what she uses (and slap her if she says its natural). And lastly we have the stars of the new movie 'Confessions of a Shopoholic', premiers Feb 09, Isla Ficher looks like her usual cute self, but its Kyrsten Ritter in her LArok dress that steals all of the womens' thunder, fan-wait for it-tabulous.

The Past Is Here To Haunt Me...

Monica Belluci. Yes. I'll give you some time to let this picture sink in. She is GORGEOUS!! Even the pronounciation of her name is sexy!! Anyway this was taken way back in 2006 at the Canne Film Festival. I was watching E! sexiest something or other and they showed us this picture...and I have not been able to stop thinking about that necklace. I'm not an animal-print lover of any sort...but its just beautfiul, with all its texture and chunkiness. I've officially given up trying to find it...since my search maximum is 3 minutes, I have hope that someone out there will figure out who made it and let me knw (*wink wink*):D

...2008 Emmy Favorites Cont'd

Everyone has been commenting on the sunshine factor with Mariska Hargitay's Carolina Herrara gown (Jimmy Choo's too) but I think it has a whole lot to do with her tan/make-up combo, the dress makes me want summer all year long! Debra Messing is doing the lace thing which is gorgeous in this Monique Lhuiller gown, but I would of loved it so much more if it wasn't in black..still the contrast with her hair and skin is amazing! Marcia Cross looks soo pretty in this Elie Saab tule dress, the ankle length is different and very hard to pull off, which she does with oh so much elegance.
